Ferry voucher reminder - tell us if you have moved!

Date: 31 January 2023

Residents in Orkney who are eligible for free ferry vouchers but who have moved in the last 12 months are urged to contact the Council’s transportation team as soon as possible to ensure their vouchers are delivered to the correct address.

Permanent residents in Orkney who hold a valid National Entitlement Card (16-18 year olds, over 60 and disabled) are entitled to two free return ferry journeys to the Scottish Mainland or Shetland per year.

The vouchers are issued by Transport Scotland annually during February-March for use between April to March the following year.

Laura Cromarty is the Council’s Service Manager – Transportation : “It’s really important that people who have moved do let us know as soon as possible - we need to pass the data to Transport Scotland by the end of this week.

“Unclaimed ferry vouchers are returned to Transport Scotland and may have the added impact of NEC (free bus pass) or Young Scot cards being cancelled too.”

Contact the Transportation team on transport@orkney.gov.uk or phone 01856 873535 extension 3637
