Consumers and businesses urged to check for recalled Lidl trout products

Date: 19 December 2022

Our Food Team is urging local businesses and householders to check their fridges and freezers products for the following trout products, recalled UK-wide by Lidl GB, as they may be contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes:

  • Lidl Deluxe Oak Smoked Scottish Louch Trout, 100 g packs with all use-by dates between and including 20 December 2022 and 06 January 2023.
  • Lighthouse Bay Smoked Trout Trimmings, pack size 120 g with all use-by dates between and including 20 December 2022 and 06 January 2023.

Symptoms caused by the organism Listeria Monocytogenescan be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea. However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis.

Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.

If you have any of the listed products, do not use/eat/serve them - follow the advice on the Food Standards Agency recall notice at https://www.food.gov.uk/news-alerts/alert/fsa-prin-65-2022 which includes returning affected products to the store from where they were bought for a full refund.

  • Summary:

Our Food Team is urging local businesses and householders to check their fridges and freezers products for two trout products, recalled UK-wide by Lidl GB, as they may be contaminated with potentially harmful Listeria Monocytogenes.
