New Year – New Phase of Works at the Orkney Library and Archive

Date: 16 December 2022

Time: 10:30

Kirkwall Library Exterior

The next phase of building works at the Orkney Library and Archive is due to get underway in the new year meaning that there will be disruption to some services.

The works are due to start on Monday 9 January 2023 and expected to last between 6-8 weeks.

There will be no public access to the main adult and teenage lending areas of the library. To limit disruption as far as possible, the library will be offering a “Request & Collect” service for these items. For information on how to reserve books using Request & Collect please visit Request & Collect - Orkney Library & Archive.

People will be able to access to the main foyer, the Marwick Room, public PCs, and the junior library; as well as the meeting rooms, Orkney Family History Society and the Archives on the first floor.

Please also be aware there is likely to be significant noise disruption while building work takes place.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but the work is necessary to make the building more energy efficient.
