Co-op recalls Co-op Anchovies in olive oil because it contains histamine

The Council's Environmental Health team is highlighting a food recall in relation to tinned anchovies:

 

Co-op have recalled anchovies in olive oil as detailed below as they contain histamine, which can trigger an immune system response resulting in symptoms such as diarrhoea, shortness of breath, headaches, or skin irritation.

Businesses and households are urged to check cupboards and stock for the affected product below and follow the advice on the recall notice, which is to not eat it but return it to your nearest Co-op store.

  • Product: Co-op Anchovies in olive oil.
  • Pack size: 50g.
  • ‘Best before’ end date: September 2023.

No other Co-op products are known to be affected.
