More power to the pedal!

Date: 01 August 2022

Lorraine on bike

Lots of Council staff have already been out and about cycling as part of the Cancer Challenge fundraiser – and there’s all the more reason for others to join in on Thursday 4 August - Cycle to Work Day!

It’s the cycle scheme’s 10th birthday and it’s been a massive success in getting thousands of commuters across the nation to make the switch to cycling to work.

They’ve got fitter, reduced their stress levels, saved loads of money on commuting costs – which has never been more important – and done their bit for the environment.

So, this year, whether you’re already a committed cycle commuter or just starting out on your journey - get on your bike and get to work the best way you can.

The Council runs a Cycle to Work scheme which is available to permanent members of staff to apply to via Employee Benefits (orkney.gov.uk) or contact the Transportation Service transport@orkney.gov.uk for assistance.
