Protect your precious cargo - get your child's car seat checked for free

Date: 21 July 2022

Orkney Islands Council is once again supporting a special drop-in clinic where you can have an expert check your child’s car seat for free.

The 2019 ‘Good Egg’ clinic in Orkney found 73% of car seats checked at the free drop in session were incorrectly fitted.

The good news is that most of these were minor and easily rectifiable issues such as incorrect harness or head-rest height, too much slack in belts or harnesses, or having the carry handle in the wrong position.

Having a correctly fitted car seat can reduce the risk of serious injuries in the event of an accident.

So put this date in your diary now, for you and for any friends or family who drive your bairns about – it’s ten minutes well spent.

Thursday 28 July – 10am to 3pm

Tesco car park, Kirkwall (18 Pickaquoy Rd, Kirkwall, KW15 1RP)

The clinics are supported by local councils, Road Safety Scotland, Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Arnold Clark - and, in Orkney, the local Road Safety Forum.
