Teddy bear trashion show at St Andrews School

Date: 02 March 2022

Trashion Show

St Andrews School pupils were challenged to come up with some novel ways of reusing waste items for a teddy bear “trashion” show!

The youngsters didn’t disappoint and came up with some very creative ways of recycling materials.

Teacher Fiona Reid said: “Our whole school topic this term is ‘Choose the World you Want’ focussing on – litter, being environmentally responsible, Fairtrade and ethical enterprise.

“We love to challenge the children to think outside the box and have fun, so we came up with the idea of a trashion show- reusing waste items in a creative manner. Because we can't hold a 'trashion' show with the children modelling their creations we decided to let them style for their teddies. We had lots of 'trashion' entries across the school from nursery to P7 and saw lots of creative, brilliant ideas, and enthusiasm for the competition.”

The winners were:

Nursery - P2 Tom, P2, who is pictured with his colourful yellow teddy, complete with a new outfit which includes blue lids for buttons.

P3 - 4 -  Rebecca, P3, and her Gruffalo child.

P5 - 7 Jamie, P6, with his green and blue monkey featuring an outfit made of crisp packets, boxes, lids and cartons.
