Stromness flagstone repairs update for week starting 28 February

Date: 25 February 2022

Flagstone repairs along Alfred Street in Stromness are expected to move south of the Lighthouse Pier access next week, meaning access to the Lighthouse Pier will be from Hellihole Road end.

The road will continue to be closed, from Hellihole Road / Dundas Street junction to Ness Road, with no through vehicular access. This section of the works are expected to take 4-5 weeks to complete, weather dependent.

Where required, repaired areas will be covered temporarily to allow them to fully cure, and it will be necessary for the areas to remain closed while this takes place.

Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout.

These works are being carried out by BDS Surfacing Ltd on behalf of the Council. The contractor’s working hours will generally be 8am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday working.

Thank you folks for your ongoing patience as we complete these works, and apologies as always for any inconvenience - have yourselves a fine weekend!
