Flagstone repairs in Kirkwall start on 7 March

Orkney Islands Council is giving advance notice of flagstone repairs and associated road closures in central Kirkwall from Monday 7 March.

The repair works will affect Bridge Street and Victoria Street in Kirkwall, and are being carried out by Andrew Sinclair Ltd, on behalf of OIC.

The works will require closures as follows:

• Bridge Street/Albert Street, from Monday 7 March, for three days.
• Victoria Street, down to Victoria Road, from Wednesday 9 March, for three days.

The contractor will endeavour to minimise the length of these closures wherever they can, but the works will be weather dependant.

Where required, repaired areas will be covered temporarily to allow them to fully cure, and it will be necessary for the areas to remain closed while this takes place.

Pedestrian and emergency vehicle access will be maintained throughout.

The contractor’s working hours will generally be 8am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.

The Council would like to apologise for the inconvenience these works may cause and thanks the public for their ongoing patience.
