Stromness flagstone roadworks update

Date: 31 January 2022

An update on flagstone repairs in Stromness (being carried out by BDS Surfacing Ltd on behalf of the Council):

Flagstone repairs in Victoria Street, Stromness have been completed - so the contractor has now moved along into Graham Place.

It's expected the work in Graham Place will be completed by mid-week, which will then see the contractor move along in to Dundas Street where work is expected to last for 3 to 4 weeks.

As a result of the ongoing works there will still be no through route for traffic along Dundas Street, Graham Place and Victoria Street (from Graham Place to Church Road).

Repaired areas will be covered temporarily to allow them to fully cure, and it will be necessary for the areas to remain closed to vehicles while this takes place.

Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout.

The contractor’s working hours will generally be 8am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday working.

The Council would like to apologise for the inconvenience these works may cause and thank the public for their ongoing patience and for driving carefully around anyone working on our roads.
