St Rognvald's Xmas Lights

The staff at St Rognvald House have been cooking up a festive display to delight – thanks to a generous donation from Cooke Aquaculture Scotland in Orkney of £1,000.

St Rognvald’s Manager Shirley Miller said: “2021 has been another challenging year for staff and residents at St Rognvald House but in true community spirit Cooke Aquaculture Scotland has come up trumps once again.

“Back in October I received a letter from Cooke Aquaculture Scotland offering a donation to help brighten the residents Christmas, imagine my surprise when I received confirmation that we were being given £1000.

“We started with outside lights/trees last year but due to the donation we have been able to purchase more decorations and this has brightened up our dementia garden area as well as our inner courtyard.

“It is so heartwarming to see the smiles on the faces of residents and to realise that we are so lucky to be living in a community that remembers and stays connected with our care home.

“We always try and go above and beyond to make Christmas as enjoyable as possible for all residents as this can be a very sensitive and nostalgic time of year, full of traditions, family and loved ones.

“I would like to thank all the staff teams who have decorated both inside and outside the building to ensure that Christmas remains ‘the most wonderful time of the year’. Our staff are so valuable to us and looking out and seeing the displays will brighten their shifts as well. We also want to thank Cooke Aquaculture Scotland for their fantastic donation, this shows real community spirit and for that we are all really grateful.”

Vicci Laird, Head of HR, Cooke Aquaculture, said: “As a family-owned company it’s important for us to support the communities we live and work in. We are really pleased to contribute towards this local care home and see the enjoyment our donation gives the residents and individuals at St Rognvald’s.

“We enjoy seeing the benefits of giving back to the communities in which we operate and are pleased to see so many people benefiting from our donations.  From all at Cooke Aquaculture, we wish everyone a very happy and safe Christmas.”
