Stromness road works update - flagstone repairs

Date: 15 December 2021

Orkney Islands Council is advising that the current phase of flagstone repair works on Alfred Street in Stromness have been completed, with Alfred street now reopened to vehicular traffic. There will be no further closures in Stromness this year for flagstone repairs.

Works will restart again until Monday 10 January 2022, on Victoria Street at Argo’s Bakery, working towards Victoria Street/Church Road junction. This will mean Victoria Street will be closed from The Pier Bistro to Church Road. It's expected this section of works will take around 1 week to complete (weather dependent).

After this section is completed, the slab repair works will continue along the street, heading towards Dundas Street/ Alfred Street/ Hellihole Road junction - further details will be provided in future updates.

The Council would like to thank members of the public for their patience so far as these works have been progressing, and will provide reminders and updates in the New Year.
