Update on the flagstone repairs and road closures in Kirkwall and Stromness

Date: 31 October 2021

Stromness:

It's expected the first section of flagstone repairs on John Street (ie from No 40 John Street to the Stromness Surgery) will be completed and reopen on Monday morning (1 November). Works on Monday will move onto the next section of John Street, from below the Surgery access to above E. Flett’s Butcher shop. This means access to Butcher shop will be via Victoria Street, and access to Stromness Surgery will be via John Street. This section of the works is expected to take around one week.

Kirkwall:

There will be a short closure starting Monday (1 November) of Victoria Street, from Royal Bank of Scotland to Victoria Road to facilitate some additional repairs - the closure will be in place until later in the week. Main Street is currently still closed to allow curing of the flagstone reinstatements but it's expected it will be re-opened at some point on Monday.

Pedestrian access is being maintained for all the above.
