Churchill barriers delays possible from Monday 18 October

Orkney Islands Council is advising there may be delays and closures on the Churchill Barrier No 2 from Monday 18 October, for a period of around six weeks, as repairs to the safety railings takes place.

Closures may be in place for short durations to allow materials to be safely delivered.

Vehicles using Churchill Causeway No 2 will be subject to delays and a speed limit of ten miles per hour to ensure the safety of site personnel and road users while maintenance works are carried out. Vehicular traffic may also be restricted to using one lane of the carriageway. Traffic signs will be erected to indicate when the road is closed.

The Council would like to thank motorists in advance for the their patience and careful driving while these important works are carried out.
