Orkney Islands Council is reminding Westray residents their collection day for waste and recycling is now Mondays.

Residents are reminded their next collection - Monday 11th October - will be a refuse collection again for vehicle availability reasons as the Council makes the switch.

Collections will then revert to the usual pattern of refuse one week and recyclates (alternating between plastic/glass and metals/paper) the next. Collections over coming weeks will be:

  • Monday 11 October – Refuse
  • Monday 18 October - Glass and plastic
  • Monday 25 October - Refuse
  • Monday 1 November - Paper and metals
  • Monday 8 November - Refuse
  • Monday 15 November - Glass and plastic
  • Monday 22 November - Refuse
  • Monday 29 November - Paper and metals

The Council thanks Westray residents in advance for their understanding and patience with regards to the change, which will help better manage recycling schedules and fleet across Orkney and add resilience to the service for Westray.

All residents and businesses in Westray have been written to. Queries can be emailed to developmentandinfrastructure@orkney.gov.uk
