Westray bin day reminder - collections moving to Monday soon

Orkney Islands Council is reminding Westray residents their collection day for waste and recycling will change to Mondays soon, from the week starting 11 October.

Residents are reminded will be two consecutive weeks of refuse collections as a one off – on 5th and 11th October - as part of the changeover, for vehicle availability reasons.

Collections over coming weeks will be:

  • Tuesday 5 October - Refuse
  • Monday 11 October – Refuse
  • Monday 18 October - Glass and plastic
  • Monday 25 October - Refuse
  • Monday 1 November - Paper and metals
  • Monday 8 November - Refuse
  • Monday 15 November - Glass and plastic
  • Monday 22 November - Refuse
  • Monday 29 November - Paper and metals

The Council thanks Westray residents in advance for their understanding and patience with regards to the change, which will help better manage recycling schedules and fleet across Orkney and add resilience to the service for Westray.

All residents and businesses in Westray have been written to. Queries can be emailed to the Council's Development and Infrastructure team.
